Rimfire 3523 is an intelligent microprocessor-based SCSI host bus adapterthat provides high-performance SCSI peripheral support on workstationsystems. Independent microprocessor control of all command and datatransfers between the SCSI peripheral and the VMEbus frees theworkstation processor from SCSI I/O tasks, and enables it to concentrateon computation-intensive tasks. Major features include:- Full disk and tape boot support without modification.
- 5 MB per second synchronous SCSI transfer rates.
- 2 MB per second asynchronous SCSI transfer rates.
- Disconnect/reconnect and command queuing for high performance.
- Scatter/gather command support for data streaming.
- Support of seven mixed SCSI peripherals.
Rimfire 3523 has been qualified with the SCSI-based disk, tape, andoptical peripherals of all major vendors.
